10 Tips For The New Year!

Posted on Thu, Dec 31, 2015 @ 09:12 AM

Since we're heading into a new year, we thought it'll be good to provide some general tips to make 2016 properous!

keep-calm-make-a-plan.jpg

1.  Make a plan and stick to it.

Too often we go through life spontaneous.  Although this may have you living in a bliss, it won't allow you to accomplish much.  Make sure you make a "Game Plan" this year.  Also, once your plan is written down make sure you execute!  Many people plan and lack execution.  Without execution, there is no SUCCESS!

a-passion-your-life-passion-in-life.jpg

2.  Find what you're passionate about, then pursue it.

Find every reason to seek your purpose.  You're here for a reason, find that reason.  Why live your life doing things you DON'T enjoy?

ITP_Failure_1024x1024.jpg

3.  Embrace FAILURE.

I didn't say ACCEPT failure, but it's perfectly fine to embrace it.  Failure is the process of growth.  It's impossible to grow without failure.  Stay positive and know that the failure humbles you and prepares you to appreciate the success!

4.  Surround yourself with positivity.

If it's not positive or encouraging, you may have to get rid of it whether it's a person, place, or thing.

new.gif5.  Try something new.

Why are you having the same sandwhich at the same restuarant at the same time every Tuesday?  Don't limit yourself with comfort.  Life's short, but then again it's not.  Live life to the fullest by experiences new things!

optimism.jpg

6. Practice "OPTIMISM" everyday.

It's so easy to see the hole in the donut.  (Hmm donuts sound good right now)  A healthy life is rewarded to those who are able to see the entire donut that surrounds the hole.

procrastinate.jpg

7.  Don't procrastinate.

Let's just get it down NOW.  We both know LATER... wont happen.

8.  Continue to build on your solid foundations.

We all have foundations in life for morals, ethics, skills, etc.  If it's good, continue to build on the house.  If it's bad, knock it down and start over.

smile.jpg

9.  Smile more.

Did you know forcing yourself to smile can boost your mood?

Did you know smiling can boost your immune system?

Did you know smiles are contagious?

Did you know... well you get the point.

10.  Try GYMNASTICS!

Want to try a sport that teaches you discipline, determination, focus, respect, toughness, balance, nutritional values, dedication, and teamwork?  Look no further!

USA Gymnastics Honors LA School of Gymnastics with Coach and Athlete of Year

Posted on Fri, May 22, 2015 @ 19:05 PM

May 22nd, 2015

LA School of Gymnastics is proud to annouce that the Head Rhthymic Gymnastics Coach Olga Putsillo and LASG's own Olympic-bound athlete Isabelle Connor completed a Gold Medal sweep at the 2015 Rhythymic Regional Gymnastics Championship in Sylmar, CA last week. Competing in the Level 9 Junior category, Connor swept first place all-around with a score of 49.6500, the highest score in 12 states across the country. USA Gymnastics honored Connor with the 2015 Athlete of the Year award in conjunction with her Coach Olga Putsillo, who also received the 2015 Coach of the Year honor from USA Gymnastics, the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States.

Coach Putsillo spoke proudly of Connor's performance, stating "I was impressed. She didn't make any mistakes. She was confident". Coach Putsillo herself was "very happy" by being honored as Coach of the Year by USA Gymnastics, and attributed both her and Isabelle's success to Isabelle's passion and dedication to her future in national level Rythmic Gymnastics. After such an amazing performance, Coach Putsillo is looking forward to Isabelle qualifying to the next level of competition at Level 10 Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Isabelle Connor and Coach Putsillo will continue to the 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics National Qualifier on June 5th in Lake Placid, New York at the United States Olympic Training Center to secure a spot on the United States National Team. Send your supportive wishes on the Offical LASG Facebook, Twitter, and Blog to support Isabelle and her coach. Way to go, ladies!

The boys came in fourth place, besting over 15 other teams from around the state and coming just short of earning a banner for the gym. Everyone at LASG is extremely proud of the team for putting forth such a good effort and representing our gym this weekend!

LAGymnastics.com was able to catch up with Martin Pentchev (pictured above, left center) Monday afternoon to talk about his experience with the team and how it felt to take fourth place. Read below for the exclusive interview!

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics: Great to speak with you, Martin! Congrats on the trophy win. What events did you and your teammates compete in at the State Championships this weekend?

Martin Pentchev: We competed in floor, high bar, rings, pommel horse, vault and p-bars.

LASG: What was your favorite event to compete in?

MP: My favorite event was p-bars!

LASG: How did it feel to come in fourth place?

MP: It felt really good. We got to go up on stage and they announced us and we ALMOST got a banner!

LASG: Was it motivating to know that you were that close to getting a banner?

MP: Yes. We are looking forward to working even harder for next time!

Coaches with Level 4 Boys

The Los Angeles School of Gymnastics would like to thank Gymnastics Olympica USA for hosting the event and giving our boys a chance to compete, and of course the Southern California Men’s Gymnastics Association for organizing the successful event.

Which LASG team will bring home the next trophy?! Stay tuned to LAGymnastics.com to find out!

LASG Meet the Gymnast: Frankie Silver

Posted on Mon, Mar 30, 2015 @ 14:03 PM

Frankie Silver is a 26-year-old dancer currently enrolled in classes here at LASG. Having just recently moved to LA from NYC, it didn't take Frankie very long to find his place at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics! Read below for a brief, fun interview that LASG did with Frankie about his experience at LASG and his pursuits in Los Angeles!

Frankie Silver

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics: So you are from New York City. When did you come to LA?

Frankie Silver: Two weeks ago!

LASG: How did you find out about the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics?

FS: I had a friend that went here and reccomended it highly. As soon as I got out here I went on Google and searched for it. It was the first thing that came up and it had the best reviews, the facility looked great. And classes every day so it was convenient for me.

LASG: Did you practice gymnastics back in New York before you moved to LA? In college or high school?

FS: Never actually. I grew up dancing. And then I started training in New York City for about five years. Before that I was actually with the Royal Ballet of London for about a year and a half. I did the Ailey (Alvin Ailey) Extension class for one summer.

LASG: So if you aren't a gymnast per se, what are you using your training here at LASG for exacly? Just trying to keep in shape, or do you have a specific goal in mind?

FS: Definitely trying to keep in shape! It's always a GREAT workout here. But at the moment I'm working on a music video, which is high in acro and dance, lots of tricks. Back in New York it was all classical ballet, Broadway, I actually did a little bit of Broadway dancing on Mamma Mia, but out here it's all commerical, with music videos and things that aren't accessable in New York.

LASG: Can you tell us what music video you're training for?

FS: It's still under wraps right now but definitely be on the lookout for Frankie Silver in the future!

Follow along with Frankie's Los Angeles journey by following him on Instagram at @demmigod! And stay tuned to LAGymnastics.com for more LASG Meet the Gymnast profiles!

Gymnastics Golden Girl Gabby Douglas Returns to Team USA

Posted on Tue, Mar 24, 2015 @ 14:03 PM

Here at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics we take our Team USA competitions very seriously! After all, many of our coaches and students are affiliated with Team USA and other international gymnastics programs.

Team USA announced this week that former gold medalists Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman are set to return to Team USA to compete for the 2015 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. This is great news for all Team USA fans, as it will be the first competition that Douglas will compete in for USA since London 2012, where she became the fourth US woman to win the overall Olympic competition.

The City of Jesolo Trophy competition starts tomorrow, March 25 and runs until Sunday, March 29. Last year the US nearly swept all gold medals, missing only one category, the senior beam title, which was claimed by Andreea Munteanu of Romania.
